Fermín Sánchez, associate professor, has been teaching at the "Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya" since 1987. He received his PhD in computer science from the "Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya" on January 1996. Since 1985, he works at the Computer Architecture Department (Departament d'Arquitectura de Computadors). Currently, he is working in the VLSI CAD group. His research interest is in software pipelining and register optimization.

Fermín plays futbol (soccer) in the AC Team. He also plays drums in Keaton Vuela. The music style is a fusion between power-funk and rock-power.

PhD Thesis(postscript)

Fermín Sánchez thesis is titled "Loop pipelining with resource and timing constraints". It proposes a new approach for software pipelining based on retiming and unrolling. The approach is oriented to the high-level synthesis of circuits. However, it has been successfully used in the compilation of loops for parallel architectures (superscalar and VLIW proccessors). The thesis also proposes techniques to reduce the register pressure in a pipelined schedule.
